original synthesis, primary source analysis, and plain-language explanation.

About RNewsUpdate

Every day, federal agencies publish new rules, executive orders, and regulatory changes that directly affect how people live, whether you can keep your work permit, whether using a benefit program will hurt your immigration case, whether a new law changes your rights as a tenant or an employee.

Most people have nowhere to go for a plain-language explanation of what those changes actually mean.

RNewsUpdate exists to fix that.

What We Do

We read government documents — Federal Register notices, USCIS policy memos, DHS regulatory filings, agency press releases, and official court records — so you don’t have to. Then we explain what we found in plain English, focused on what it means for your specific situation and what you can do about it.

Our coverage focuses on four areas where federal policy directly affects everyday life:

  • Immigration Policy — green card applications, work visas, TPS, deportation proceedings, travel bans
  • Workers’ Rights — employment authorization, wage laws, gig worker protections, workplace rights
  • Federal Benefits — SNAP, Medicaid, ACA marketplace coverage, public charge implications
  • Housing Policy — Section 8 vouchers, HUD programs, federal tenant protections

Every article we publish is grounded in primary sources and written for the person the policy actually affects, not for policymakers, not for attorneys, and not for an academic audience.

What We Are Not

We are not a law firm and we do not provide legal advice. Nothing on this site should be taken as legal counsel for your specific situation.

We are not a breaking news operation. We don’t race to publish first, we take the time to explain accurately.

We are not affiliated with any government agency, political party, or advocacy organization. Our goal is factual clarity, not advocacy.

We are not a general news site. We do not cover finance, entertainment, sports, or any topic outside U.S. federal laws and policy.

Who Runs RNewsUpdate

RNewsUpdate was founded by Kailon Kirby, a legal immigrant who navigated the U.S. immigration system firsthand. That experience is the foundation of everything we publish on immigration policy — he has lived the process, not just studied it.

Over the past six years, Kailon has worked informally with immigrants and their families to review documents, interpret policy changes, and help them understand how federal rules apply to their specific situations, including multiple successful green card applications.

His work has since expanded to cover the broader federal policy landscape, workers’ rights, federal benefits programs, housing policy, and executive actions applying the same approach: translating government documents and regulatory changes into plain language that the people actually affected can understand and act on.

Kailon is not an attorney, and RNewsUpdate does not provide legal advice. But his goal is straightforward: no one should face a confusing policy change without at least understanding what it means.

How We Approach Content

Every article published on RNewsUpdate:

  • Cites primary sources — we link directly to the Federal Register notice, USCIS policy memo, agency announcement, or official document that the article is based on. No unnamed analysts, no vague attributions.
  • Is written for affected individuals — not for policymakers, legal professionals, or academic readers. If a regular person can’t understand it, we rewrite it.
  • Is updated when policies change — federal policy moves fast. Every article shows a “last updated” date, and we revise content when the rules change.
  • Includes a legal disclaimer — because policy explanation is not legal advice, and we want that to be clear every time.
